Purpose
what the domain is about
Bittersky.org is a blog and writing archive. In this site, you can find my journal and a few stories I have written. It was born somewhere in November 2006, hosted by Sophia.
Please note that since this site is rather personal, everything found here should not be taken too seriously. Debates or drama related to this site are not welcomed.
The Name
where bitter sky comes from
I would like to try to pretend I have created the phrase myself, but in fact I have come across “bitter sky” twice.
First, in the second stanza of Shakespeare’s poem “Blow, Blow, Thou Winter Wind”:
Freeze, freeze, thou bitter sky,
Thou dost not bite so nigh
Second, in the first stanza of Saves the Day’s song “Nightingale”:
And I will flail under these lights,
that seep down from the bitter sky tonight
“Bitter” and “sky” is a beautiful combination, that I was never able to forget it ever since I had heard of it.
The Birth
how bittersky.org was born
It was eight months after I had started blogging on reverie-lost.net, for some reason I thought I need a fresh start. I had been thinking of getting a “bitter sky” domain. I turned to the wonderful people on Nocturna Boards (now closed). With their help I finally decided on the domain name with no hyphans and a dot-org.
I registered the domain at Omnis Network and found Sophia, who would host domains for free, through July In Me (now closed). She kindly agreed to host me and therefore, bittersky.org was happily born.
