I'm pretty sure Avatar will take many of the awards, but my personal favorite is Inglorious Basterds. I actually didn't enjoy The Hurt Locker as much as I would have wanted to. I thought the acting was fantastic, but I couldn't get into the plot and the movie itself. I really hope that Mo'Nique wins - her performance was absolutely unbelievable. The same goes from Christoph Waltz; he was also fantastic! Avatar is also the only movie nominated for Best Picture which I have not seen.

I'm not at all a fan of 'war movies' but, as you said, this is more prominently a drama and it's so refreshing to see a story set on a war centered on the people more than on the action. The acting was excellent too, the scene almost at the end of James talking to his baby boy really broke my heart.
