This was taken on 5th January 2009, when I returned from Ireland. It was around 13:00. The weather was very good, if not a little bit hot. Despite my complicated feelings, I stopped about 5 minutes after getting off the plane and took this. It was a very beautiful and slightly sad moment.
P.S. Hong Kong International Airport really is the best airport in the world.

Hong Kong International Airport really is the best in the world, and Cathay Pacific the best airline. I’ve never, EVER had a bad experience at either HKIA or with CX. If only I had more opportunities to use both, my traveling life would be much easier to deal with!
Any airport that isn’t in the West has to be amazing. I despair at all Western transportation of all kinds.
I can imagin that must have been a bittersweet sort of moment.

HKIA and CX are just two of the things I am proud of. I mean, even after 10 years, HKIA is still voted as the best airport in the world and I came across an American guy (who lives in DC!) who just had good things to say about it. We HKers are efficient! 
@Alice: Thankfully, what I experienced in Western airports weren’t that bad.
And it really was a weird moment, and I think the picture represent it quite well.

Great to see you back blogging ~ I think my parents and sister had to transfer in Hong Kong when they travelled to Indonesia and they liked it very much. Unfortunately I haven’t been out of Europe *blush* but I must say … the design of Terminal 4 of Madrid Barajas International Airport (designed by an award winning team) is very pretty too.
