January 23rd, 2007 As far as romance goes
I was watching a film called “Bride and Prejudice” with a group of girls in the block. Apparently it was a romantic comedy. All the girls thought that Darcy guy was gorgeous. I managed to keep my mouth shut for a while. When Darcy took the Indian girl Lalita on his helicopter and flew around the city of LA, all the girls went “aww it’s sooo sweet!”
“But then, he can do that only because he’s rich.” Damn, why couldn’t I just shut up?
They stopped and stared at me for a while, then went “but it’s romantic!”
I know it wasn’t exactly a cute thing to say, but I couldn’t help. I’ve grown out of romantic movies and books for a while now. I suppose you don’t love someone because of the romantic things he does (he might be able to get you a star if he is rich), you love someone for who he is. But then again, I know nothing about romance or love or all that.

Romantic movies are good and all, but I vastly prefer the sort that don’t just show the romance, but examine it, and choose to delve in the workings of romance. Which… is why I’d probably say the same thing. Or say something worse, most likely.
And which is why I tend not to watch many movies.

Uh, I know what you mean, I’d have thought the same. I used to like RomComs too but after a while they just lost their touch. And I don’t know anything about love either.

I’m not much of a Romantic Comedy fan myself so you totally get my sympathies on this one. *nods* I mean how can being given a helicopter ride be so romantic, if he didn’t have the money he couldn’t have done it. Instead he’d have had to take her on a bus tour and they wouldn’t have thought that was romantic.
I have a tendency to spoil those sort of movies for friends so I avoid them.

movies are just movies. girls say that prefer “sweet” boy or “gentlemen”, but it’s not true. girls wants a rich guy (no matter if good or bad) and this is the truth! look around u. rich guys are never alone… why??? money mean success, mean girls, mean power ecc..

Ahh! I can’t stand rom-coms… unless they have a ‘zom’ in there somewhere (I refer, of course, to Shaun of the Dead :D)
It’s a good job I don’t have many girl friends, my cynicism would make them hate me! XD Hmm, maybe that’s the reason why…
